Speculative design - The future generation suffering from Skin Hunger.
Touch deprivation, or skin hunger as it’s sometimes known, is a condition that arises when we have little or no physical contact with others. In our increasingly digitized world we are connecting more online but touching each other less often.
The device
Skin Hunger, is a device that invites people to reconnect with other people’s emotions through non-direct physical contact. No words are used but the heartbeat, breathing and body temperature will help to calm you down. Experiencing this calming effect will lead to a healthy physical and emotional balance and increases contact with humanity. By using this device we encourage the growth of empathy and respect for each others well being.
